Indian Stock Exchanges Conduct Mock Trading Session
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) conducted special mock trading sessions to assess the resilience and preparedness of their trading infrastructures.
Purpose of Mock Trading Sessions
These mock trading sessions are essential for testing the exchanges’ readiness to handle unexpected market disruptions, such as security breaches or system failures. By simulating real trading conditions, both the exchanges and market participants can evaluate their systems’ performance and address potential issues proactively.
Details of the NSE Mock Trading Session
According to the NSE’s circular, the mock trading session on March 15, 2025, in the Capital Market Segment followed this schedule:
- Morning Block Deal Window Session-1: 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM
- Pre-Open Session: 11:00 AM to 11:08 AM
- Normal Market Open Time: 11:15 AM
- Normal Market Close Time: 3:00 PM
- Closing Session: 3:10 PM to 3:20 PM
- Trade Modification End Time: 3:30 PM
- Live Re-login Start Time: 5:00 PM
- Live Re-login Close Time: 5:30 PM
Participants were advised to use the latest NEAT Adapter version for the Equity Derivatives Segment during this session. The older version (1.0.19) will be supported until May 2, 2025, after which the new version (1.0.20) will become mandatory.
Participation Guidelines
All members eligible to trade in the Commodity Derivatives Segment (COM segment) in the live market were automatically enabled to participate in the mock session. Members were instructed to:
- Connectivity Check: Ensure successful connection to the Exchange host from the intended IP.
- Box ID Setup: Verify that the Box ID with appropriate messages was created on the IP in the respective trading segments.
- Non-NEAT Frontend (NNF) Applications: Ensure the User ID is of type dealer, converted for NNF, and mapped with the correct IP.
- User & Branch Limits: Set appropriate branch/user limits via the corporate manager terminal before placing orders.
- Request Submission for Exchange Actions: For specific requests, members were to email the exchange with User ID and segment details for actions such as Pro Enablement, CTCL Conversion, Corporate Manager Password Reset, unlocking Corporate Manager User ID, and changing User ID Trading Rights (PRO to CLI, PRO+CLI, etc.).
- User ID Management: Password resets and unlocking for all other types of user IDs were to be managed internally by members via the corporate manager user ID in their respective segments.
Active participation in these sessions is encouraged to ensure that systems are well-prepared for any unforeseen disruptions.
